The Secret to Exceptional Quality

Creating porcelain products of this caliber is not just about production and finishing. It takes meticulous attention to detail, a passion for craftsmanship, and decades of expertise. With a team of 850 dedicated professionals, RAK Porcelain ensures every product surpasses the high expectations of the HORECA industry.

The Art of Body & Glaze Preparation

One unique aspect of RAK Porcelain’s manufacturing process is their ability to create custom body and glaze recipes in-house. Using a blend of feldspar, quartz, kaolin, and free alumina, their experts craft a formula milled to a precise consistency. Through a magnetic process, free iron particles are removed, and the material is prepared in various forms—dry granules for iso pressing, wet clay rolls for shaping mugs and cups, and liquid slurry for high-pressure casting.

Shaping the Porcelain Masterpieces

RAK Porcelain employs multiple shaping techniques based on the complexity, size, and volume of each item:

  • Iso-static Pressing: Used for round dishes, square plates, and bowls, this fully automated process forms the porcelain under high pressure, ensuring precision without manual intervention.
  • Jiggering: Mugs, cups, and some bowls are shaped using roller head jiggering, with handles attached manually.
  • High-Pressure Casting: Reserved for more intricate shapes such as square, rectangular, and oval platters, this method uses liquid slurry cast into molds at high pressure, with cycle times ranging from 60 to 240 seconds.

Glazing and Firing for a Flawless Finish

After shaping, the porcelain pieces are dried and biscuit-fired at 950°C. This initial firing strengthens the pieces, preparing them for glazing. RAK Porcelain uses both automated and manual glazing techniques depending on the product type. Round plates and bowls are glazed using Triplex machines, while irregular-shaped items are glazed through mechanized spray lines.

The glazed products are then fired at an extreme temperature of 1,250°C in a process known as glost firing. This stage ensures vitrification, mechanical strength, and a flawless glossy finish. The final product is fully non-porous and ready for the final quality tests, polishing, and packaging.

Custom Designs and Decorative Techniques

RAK Porcelain offers a wide variety of decorations, designed both in-house and by renowned artists from around the world. Approximately 25% of standard products feature custom decals, which are applied and fired to ensure they are durable and long-lasting. Special on-glaze and in-glaze techniques guarantee that decorations, including those with gold, silver, and platinum, are dishwasher and microwave safe.

Efficient Packaging and Swift Delivery

RAK Porcelain takes special care in packaging its products, ensuring they are delivered safely. Their vast warehouse, which holds up to 13 million pieces, is equipped with advanced racking and storage systems. This allows them to maintain efficient handling and reduce delivery times to just 2–4 weeks.
